Do More With Less. NO! Do Less, BE More. (Retreating into Silence, post 6 of 10)

Mid-retreat, around Day 3, I felt a light and floaty and spacious in my sittings. Simple images arose in my mind. An earth worm wiggling about in rich soil.

At one point, the refrain arose, “Do more with less.” It’s an expression that seems to be said quite a bit these days in the work place. It’s how a company gets through times when “business is soft.” Our clients are being asked to do more with less. In turn, we are being asked to do more with less. It all seems a vicious cycle. And a ridiculous one. Adding layers of stress to an already stressful environment.

I found energy in re-framing the refrain. Do less, with more:

  •  … With more kindness
  •  … with more thoughtfulness
  •  … with more awareness
  •  … with more curiosity
  •  … with more compassion
  •  … with more passion
  •  … with more life.

Do less, and BE more.

That little earth worm knows what’s up.

And then, the tears. (Retreating into Silence, post 7 of 10)
